THE Plastic Piling Company is extremely proud to represent Profextru in the UK and Ireland. We have worked together for nearly 20 years, pushing the boundaries of convention and improving means of installation.
Profextru is one of the largest processors of recycled plastic in Europe. More than 60 years of experience in the development, production and worldwide delivery of large plastic profiles form the basis of our brands. Profextru focuses strongly on innovation, quality and sustainability. Based on a philosophy that focuses on circularity, Profextru produces products with a long service life. These products can ultimately again be deployed as a raw material for new products. Profextru’s products are continuously developed further in close partnership with clients all over the world.
We came across Profextru, whilst just doing internet searches, and once we found THE MultiLock® Sigma plastic pile, we knew it was a game changer.
The first plastic pile that took advantage of the way the sheet piling is produced. Deviating away from traditional U and Z sheet piles. These new box and tubular piles designs increasing rigidity and versatility.
Plastic piling finally had advantages, beyond the material advantages. The concept originally focused MultiLock® Sigma as a hybrid to enable the use of sustainable softwood, which is cheap, whilst at the same time offering a combined system that would last at least 60 years.
After the development of the internal mandrel by APEhire and THE Plastic Piling Company in 2009. MultiLock® Sigma became the ideal plastic sheet pile for cut-off structures with length of 6m plus driven. This internal mandrel concept was soon adopted in Europe, and ultimately lead to the introduction of MultiLock® Delta, with an in built seal. The images below show the very first use of an internal mandrel, by the Environment Agency at Fradley in 2009. In this trial the pile length was 5m long, and whilst the video has been sped up you can appreciate the ease of installation with this method. The internal mandrel enabling much longer piles to be driven with much more powerful piling vibrators.
The concept working more commonly with leader rigs in Europe, with the concept taken a stage further with the combination of the side mandrel concept (also one our our developments) and the internal mandrel.
The latest variant is the design by Boorscherm, where the mandrel tubes have been changed for augers and offer a fantastic fast loading mechanism.
Social Corporate Responsibility
Profextru has have put circular business practices at the top of their list of priorities. They consciously make sustainable choices in the production process. Using recycled plastic as ther basic raw material for the products is a conscious choice. At the end of their service life, the profiles can be fully reused as a raw material for new finished products.

At Profextru, it is important to permanently assess and optimise performance.
ISO certification helps with this. Profextru have three ISO certificates:
ISO 9001 for quality management
ISO 14001 for environmental management
ISO 26000 for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Circularity
An industry without waste by reusing all raw materials again and again, that is doing circular business. Based on this philosophy, products are made using recycled plastic with a long service life. These products can also, in turn, be recycled again.
The production process is also set up in such a way that all residual material is reused. Doing everything to ensure the environment is burdened as little as possible.
Key Profextru Products available from THE Plastic Piling Company
The three sheet piles designs available from Profextru are MultiLock® , ProLock and Epsilon. Now in recent years the MultiLock® brand was moved under the umbrella of the ProLock brand. However, as it is an established brand and registered trademark of THE Plastic Piling Company, we have continued with the original names.
So ProLock Sigma, we market as MultiLock® Sigma, likewise MultiLock® Delta and MultiLock® Diplo.
That stated we commonly refer to the other products as ProLock Omega, and ProLock Epsilon
All products have a comprehensive range of accessory items, including capping beams, connectors and corner piles.
