The most obvious difference between the ML and SP range is size. The ML range is a smaller model, designed to fit smaller excavators. However, the ML range is not simply a Mini Movax, as much more thought has gone into its design.
Within the SP range, substantial development was made to reduce inappropriate loading of the side clamps, through the use of an electronic control system that maintained the unit at the correct working angle. This resulted in a requirement to have a dedicated base excavator, or a degree of customisation to the excavator. This has been effectively eliminated, enabling the ML range of Movax units to be mounted on virtually any excavator within the appropriate size class, without modification to that machine.
This is a vital parameter for the non-operated market and substantially expands the number of suitable and available excavators, Combined with the fact that the ML range simply needs two hoses to connect and one electronic cable, it enables faster fitting than even the basic EMV units!
Whilst a bottom clamp remains an option, the standard ML unit comes fitted with side clamps and a compactor plate base. This format is ideally suited to the installation of plastic sheet piling, as proven by the number of times compactor plates have been used for installation. This reduces the cost of the unit and most importantly reduces the weight of the unit.
The ML design also has new clamp designs to enable direct clamping to plastic sheet piling without excessive force. This adjustable clamp pressure can be set to suit the pile, be this steel or PVC or timber.
